High Risers show off at the Howl
The 2025-2026 University of New Mexico Men's and Women's basketball teams got introduced and showed off some of their skills to a group of happy fans at the Lobo Howl event over the weekend (October, 4th). The players and staff from both teams were introduced to the crowd as they raced down the ramp to put on a show. Fans were later also allowed on the court for the dunk contest and autograph session.
First Timers - Even though the Men's team had 100% roster turnover from last season, there are actually 2 current players that have run down the ramp before as opponents of the Lobos.
Deyton Albury, the guard transfer from Utah St., played 14 minutes for the Aggies and finished with 6 points and 2 assists in his lone showing in the Pit last season. Lobos won the game (82-79).
Senior guard, Tajavis Miller, has also visited the Pit in the past while playing for North Dakota St. in 2022-23. Miller finished that game with 6 points and 5 rebounds, as the Lobos defeated the Bison 76-55.
Senior Chris Howell has played one game against the Lobos in the past while he was at St. Marys in 2023-24, but the game was in Moraga, CA. at University Credit Union Pavilion. Howell finished with 0 points in 16 minutes as the Gaels defeated UNM 72-58.
High Flying Lobos - Deyton Albury, Antonio Chol, Tajavis Miller, and Uriah Tennete took the court to show their creativity and leaping ability in a dunk contest. The most impressive part of the dunk contest was that all of the contestants actually made their attempts! The final between Kevin Patton Jr. and Uriah Tenette looks like it could have gone wither way as the 2 both completed unbelievable dunks, but Tenette walked away with the win and hardware. Patton Jr.'s dunks were equally impressive, but the sheer leaping ability of the shorter player Tenette is just incredible to see.

New Tees - All of the Lobo players and coaches came out wearing a new "Lobo Howl 2025" t-shirt, and fans could also find the limited addition shirts for sale at the team's merch store, the Lobo Den. Interesting and exciting to see the use of the retro Lobo logo that was used in the 1970's through 1990's. This may be hint, that this retro logo will make comeback on other merchandise and uniforms.
We'll have a limited number of exclusive T-shirts on sale at the Lobo Den during the Lobo Howl tomorrow night 👕
